Japan "Cherry Blossom" Art, Architecture and Culture Tour
A Unique Japanese Cultural Experience of Art & Architecture

Japan is a global design epicenter making it a must-see travel destination for anyone interested in Art, Architecture and Design and there is no better time to visit Japan than during Cherry Blossom season.
The 2020 Japan "Cherry Blossom" Art, Architecture & Culture Tour by Robert Day Travel from 21 - 31 March 2020 will be a truly memorable Japan experience focusing on Art, Architecture, Design and Japanese Culture.
The tour will start in Tokyo on Sunday 22nd March and finish in Kyoto on Tuesday 31st March. You will need to arrive in Tokyo on Saturday 21st March. You will spend 6 nights in Tokyo and 4 nights in Kyoto. There is also the opportunity to join the optional extension to the main tour which will visit the ancient Samurai tour of Kanazawa as well as the opportunity to combine this tour with the "Art Islands" Tour to Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima prior to the Cherry Blossom Tour.
In Tokyo visit some famous museums and galleries to see some exhibitions. Travel to some of the more out-of-the-way places in Tokyo that most tourists do not visit, and of course we will visit some of the famous areas of Tokyo such as Ginza, Omotesando and Shibuya. There will also be a visit the Jiyu Gakuen School by Frank Lloyd Wright and the National Museum of Western Art by Le Corbusier.
In Kyoto you will visit some very famous temples and shrines and many other great places. Visit the Kawai Kanjiro House and also travel to Meiji Mura, an open-air architectural museum which contains some wonderful historic building including the Imperial Hotel by Frank Lloyd Wright. We are hoping to also include a visit to the Miho Museum designed by I.M. Pei.
This small group tour offers a “less known” experience to discriminating travellers that will tap into the Japanese design psyche as the tour visits famous galleries, museums and architectural landmarks in and around Tokyo and Kyoto.
This is not just the typical sight-seeing tour, but a definitive display of Japanese artistic and cultural expression visiting fascinating traditional and contemporary buildings, ancient temples, famous pottery artisans, wonderful Japanese gardens and sampling some delicious Japanese food. This 10-day Japan Tour is conducted by Architect, former Japan resident and Japan expert Robert Day.
The tour cost is from $6,900* AUD per person single or $6,100* AUD per person twin share if you are travelling with a companion. The cost includes accommodation with dally breakfast, 7 day JR Rail Pass, ground transportation costs, venue entries and my personal tour leadership and expert advice. Cost exclusions are airfares, transfers, meals and some minor bus fares.
Of course where ever we go, there is always the wonderful food, and of course, hopefully, the wonderful Cherry Blossoms. Please note that as the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms is a natural event subject to particular climatic conditions, even so we are always hopeful that we will see plenty of Cherry Blossoms.
