Black Lava and Green Valleys on Horseback in Reykjavík, Iceland

Great riding trails - unexpected scenery

Reykjavík, Iceland - Exploring Iceland is offering a Black Lava and Green Valleys horseback riding tour in Reykjavík, Iceland from May to September.

Iceland has become a rising star in the foodie world. The little Nordic capital with its charming old houses has a surprisingly high number of first class restaurants serving Iceland´s finest foods. Think of free range lamb, langoustines and salted Cod.

Exploring Iceland offers a private 4 day tour to Reykjavík which includes 3 nights in a hotel downtown (choice of 3 or 4 Star hotel) and 4 riding days through the Nature Reserve around the capital. Whereas the horses move on from place to place the riders return each night back to the hotel and can enjoy the full dining experience and nightlife the capital has to offer. Each day is filled with exciting sights when your Icelandic hosts take you riding along a beach, through Pseudocraters and lava fields, through Arctic birch forests and along the banks of a famous Salmon River.

The Icelandic Horse is the only breed in Iceland and has become very popular as a riding horse in Europe and North America because of its friendly character and super soft special gait tölt, a fast yet comfortable gait not very much different from the Rack gait of the American Saddlebred. This gait is fixed in the horses´ genes and it is easy to learn for the rider.

Extra days can be added to explore the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon or to join a Reykjavík Food Walk or Whale Watching Tour. This tour is also highly recommended for families or couples with non-riding partners as there is much to offer for those who do not feel comfortable on horseback! Whereas the riders spend the day in the company of the beautiful Icelandic horses, non-riding guests can choose from an huge offer of daytrips right from the hotel such as bicycle tours, ATV tours, snorkeling and sea angling.  All groups are private and the min. number of guests is just two riders. Dedicated guides take care of the needs and wishes of every guest.

Tours are available from May to September every year and all tours are strictly private. This ride can be combined with other tours to offer guests an even longer riding experience in two different areas and landscapes. Exploring Iceland is happy to arrange accommodation before and after the tour and any further explorations of Iceland at your convenience.

Tour rate: Starting from ISK 284.000 (approx. USD 2.365)
Rate includes: All land transfers from Reykjavík – choice of 3 and 4 Star Hotel for 4 nights in downtown Reykjavík – Scandinavian breakfast buffet & lunch – 4 riding days - English speaking guide
