Medina Lake Cajun Festival Still Rolling Out the Good Times

Cajun festivals come and go, but the Medina Lake Cajun Festival has persevered for 39 years. The 39th Annual Medina Lake Cajun Festival will be held on Saturday, September 28th (at the Lakehills Civic Center in Lakehills, Texas), and volunteers will once again transform the grounds of the Lakehills Civic Center into a little slice of Cajun Country. The festival brings the amazing music, food and culture of Louisiana to the Texas Hill Country for fun the whole family can enjoy.

Visitors can listen and dance to topnotch Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco music on two stages with bands from the heart of Louisiana, enjoy the best homemade Cajun food this side of Louisiana, and visit the Great Gumbo Cook-off.  Volunteer cooks prepare savory Cajun food cooked on site. Dishes include crawfish pies, jambalaya, fried catfish & shrimp, red beans & rice, crawfish etouffee, boudin jalapeno poppers, bread pudding with whiskey sauce, pecan pralines, and much more. Guests can sample gumbos from the amateur, professional, and culinary student divisions in the Great Gumbo Cook-off, with which the festival began.

All day long two stages rock with Cajun and Zydeco music and a little Country and Western added in. There are two dance floors, and it is impossible not to join in the exuberant dancing or at least tap your toes as you listen. Other attractions include an Arts & Crafts show and games for the kids
